Located just over 6 miles northeast of the Golden Triangle, O’Hara is situated along the hills and valleys along the Allegheny River. The population was 8,407 at the 2010 census. O’Hara Township is in the acclaimed Fox Chapel Area School District. Also within O’Hara is the RIDC Park (Regional Industrial Development Corporation).
- It was named after James O’Hara, a revolutionary war general and industrialist, in 1794.
- The township boasts 6 parks, the largest being Squaw Valley Park and Meadow Park. Attractions in the parks include playgrounds, a Gazebo, picnic shelters, ballfields, tennis courts, playgrounds, a sand volleyball court, basketball courts, hiking trails, pond and fountain at the Squaw Valley Park.
